Individuality

Every body is different and every person is unique. Our health is a combination of genetics, personal history, environmental factors, diet, and lifestyle. There is no one-size-fits-all for wellness. The adage “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” has obvious merit – clearly what we eat directly impacts our health, as do so many other factors.  I take this farther. The "apple" is a metaphor that embodies my practice and perspective. Understanding how to help manage inflammation and autoimmunity coupled with discovering your bio-individuality is essential, as your  "apple a day" is distinctive to you.

Healing, Building, & Restoration

I leave the diagnosis and medication to the physicians, and we work on understanding and navigating the factors that go beyond the doctor’s office, which play a crucial role. I am absolutely in favor of medicine when needed, but I also feel strongly it’s our job to provide our bodies the foundation to heal and thrive as much as possible

As an Autoimmune Nutrition & Health Specialist, I take a holistic approach by addressing not only diet, but also sleep, stress, movement, and environmental factors, as they are all interwoven in our health.  We'll uncover the areas in your life where modifications have the potential to translate into mitigating illness. While I zoom out and look at the bigger picture, working with the client to trouble shoot and improve all areas, I also view through a lens to optimize gut health as it relates to directly inflammation. I also place an emphasis on bone health (both diet and lifestyle) when appropriate - a critical topic - often ignored and not addressed properly. We also spend plenty of time talking about thoughtful and timely recovery and restoration.

In addition to being a Certified Holistic Nutritionist, my training in the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP), sometimes called the Anti- Inflammatory Protocol or the Autoimmune Paleo, offers one of the perspectives from which I address healing and restoration. AIP is a complementary approach to chronic disease management, focused on providing the body with nutritional resources and lifestyle modifications required for gut health, immune regulation, hormone regulation, and tissue healing. At the same time, the protocol is centered around removing inflammatory stimuli from both diet and lifestyle. Among other contributors, AIP focuses on intestinal permeability (leaky gut) and the gut microbiome as these are considered necessary precursors to all autoimmune disease. Additionally, stress management, sleep, and appropriate physical activity are also pivotal when it comes to our restorative plan.

It will take time, patience, and determination, but I will support and guide you, and together we can make a difference to improve your health.
